We are now looking for a 

 

Suppliers Inspection Control Manager

 

having senior experience to lead our team of 6 Suppliers Inspectors & Quality Experts in charge of respectively executing quality plan inspections & developing quality deliveries of our nuclear & military suppliers base historically used for SPecial Applications (SPA) engines spare parts & services business.

 

In line with the SPA strategy, and within a collaborative spirit as part of the SPA Purchasing department, ensure the achievement and monitoring of the quality requirements of supplies & services enabling customers to operate their Diesel 4-Stroke engines installed base in the nuclear and military fields.

 

The preferred location for the position is in Surgères (France), or alternatively Mulhouse (France), and eventually Paris (France), considering team members split between Surgères & Mulhouse.

 

What you will be doing 

 

  • Be responsible for the management and development of the team of inspectors and quality experts ensuring inspections and quality assessments on components & services for SPA activities [60~80 Meuros yearly GTV].
  • Define and develop the distribution of inspections & jobs between team members.
  • Monitor the performance of inspections & controls, and ensure regular reporting.
  • Lead and challenge team's continuous improvement actions, managing changes implementation and improvements.
  • Training: define the trainings & required valid certifications for concerned team activities.
  • Put in place the appropriate organization, material, human resources, incl. external service inspections provider to secure continuous service whatever peak jobs demand & contributing to reactive & decarbonized local mobilization as appropriate.
  • Ensure that our suppliers take into account the overall technical, quality and heavy specific requirements of our nuclear & military business.

 

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have understanding in the criticality of coordinating the required actions mobilization as appropriate with technical and quality departments and having experience of purchasing/manufacturing critical components in similar areas. 

 

As the ideal candidate, you are experiment in the supply chain, facing obsolescence risk and having high technical knowledge would be a must. For you to succeed in the position, we expect from you to have proactiveness, reactiveness and organization skills, as well as be communicative towards all stakeholders, altogether in an oriented positive mindset. Key stakeholders being :

  • Internally

Operational purchasing team, logistic team, workshop, internal customers & other planning related parties. Sales teams, technical service teams, suppliers validation team, documentary quality & operational control quality teams.

  • Externally

External customers and representatives: carrying out joint inspections at suppliers premises.
Subcontractor: piloting / management / commercial negotiation of external service inspections provider.
Suppliers and customers quality representatives: notify non-conformities and monitor their resolution.


As Suppliers Inspection Control Manager your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and validate inspection jobs in full independent authority from quality 1st perspective.
  • Define, deploy, communicate and monitor the forecast schedule for supplier inspections in connection with the purchasing delivery schedule.
  • Supervise the sending of inspection notices.
  • Communicate the progress & outcome of inspections to operational purchasing.
  • Identify critical component quality issues and verify their effective treatment.
  • Verify and validate purchase orders according to applicable requirements including the quality documentation required when placing orders with suppliers, according to customer requirements.
  • Determine and monitor team performance & suppliers quality indicators.
  • Propose improvements to systems, practices and procedures for continuous improvement within the framework of the “Nuclear Quality and Culture” strategy and objectives.
  • Participate in maintaining all required certifications via internal or customer audits.
  • May be required to carry out inspections at suppliers (one-off trips).

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

  • Comply with applicable rules regarding Quality, Safety and Environment, in accordance with Wärtsilä’s commitment.
  • Monitor and comply with nuclear safety rules.
  • Respect and improve inspections processes.
  • Check strictly suppliers compliance.
  • Guarantee the application of the quality manual and its improvement and the certifications in force.
  • Guarantee the status and monitoring of activity (purchase orders, inspections and notifications with suppliers).
  • Manage and detect blocked purchasing requests and work to resolve them.
  • Make yourself available during audits.
  • Monitor inspection and quality expertise professions and their practices.
  • Ensure the completeness of the missions to be carried out.
  • Guarantee planning of inspections.
  • Monitor non-conformities of parts for military and nuclear applications.
  • Ensure corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Work from purchasing requests and engineering service requirements and the documentary quality of nuclear and military contracts.
  • Decide on the release of the orders according to compliance with quality requirements with regard to the usual cost/deadline issues.
  • Report your activities to the entire team and the management on monthly basis with key indicators.
  • Have good knowledges in industrial quality systems & standards expertise, focusing on nuclear and military quality controls, minimal legal knowledge.
  • Own technical knowledge to understand the challenges and needs of industrial international long projects ; plus, technical knowledge in the field of rotating machines, mechanics, and Diesel 4-Stroke engines to carry out quality inspections.
  • Be fluent in French & English, being also proficient in computer tools (incl. Office Pack, SAP as ERP).
  • Have a real sense of interpersonal skills, creating partnerships with suppliers and good relationships with your surroundings.
  • Have an open mind for improvement suggestions and being proactive.
  • Have strong soft skills, like: rigor, organization, autonomy; ability to convince your interlocutors according to factual & objective orientation in relation to the applicable business framework and the client's sense according to applicable contractual requirements.
  • Act as a senior with strong charisma in his area of accountability and have strong leadership.

 

In this role, travel capacity is required to meet our suppliers, team members & stakeholders. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10~20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
