Project Engineer, Ship Electrification Solutions

Wärtsilä is looking for a Project Engineer within Ship Electrification Solutions (SES) who will join Shaft Generator Systems Team Korea located in Busan. As a Project Engineer, you will get involved a variety of integrated electrical systems including shaft generator systems, battery hybrid and full electric propulsion solutions to newbuild segments. You will belong to the project team through all stages from engineering design to commissioning and delivery of a project in the global maritime market.

In this role you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager in Korea whilst technically you will closely work with engineering teams in Germany, Norway and China within SES. This position is a permanent opportunity, and its location is Busan, Korea.

 

What will you be doing:
As Project Engineer, Ship Electrification Solutions, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Create approval drawing sets based on the technical specifications.
  • Make the customer daily technical clarifications.
  • Ensure the different products interface and functional clarifications.
  • Make the internal communication with Engineers in Europe and China
  • Manage technical communications and documents review with the suppliers.
  • Visit shipyard onsite to clarify technical issues and supervise SES equipment installation when only required.
  • Communicate risks, issues, and solutions to colleagues with various technical backgrounds.
  • Develop lessons learnt to improve design, process, and efficiency for future performance.
  • Attend and lead factory acceptance test (if required), and the interface meetings internally and externally with customers,

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • BSc./MSc.in Electric and Automation Engineering
  • Work experiences in marine power electric system or marine control systems
  • Willingness of traveling to vessel onboard to clarify technical issues and support field service engineers onsite.
  • Willingness to learn and share technical skills & knowledge.
  • Familiar with marine electric equipment such as generator, transformer, switchboard, PMS, frequency converter, motor, battery system
  • Familiar with Class standard/rules requirements
  • Knowledge of vessel electric design philosophy and electrical networks/distribution systems
  • Familiar with basic commercial process
  • Good understanding of customers and their business
  • Fluent in Korean, spoken and written
  • Fluent in English, spoken & written
  • Cost awareness & effectiveness
  • Ability to work under pressure with good teamwork skills, self-motivation, and positive mind-set
