Sales Manager, Owner Accounts (Ref 33890)


Wartsila Marine Power leads the industry in its journey towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. As a Sales Manager within the Marine Power Sales organisation your role will be to identify and pursue relevant sales opportunities and for closing deals in your account ownership.


In your day to day work you will maintain and develop our market leading position in Marine Power sales primarily to Ferry, Oil & Gas and Governmental accounts predominantly North and West Coast UK regions.


You will build up and manage a CRM pipeline of opportunities that you will need to convert into order intake according to agreed targets. An important part of your role will be blending consultative selling that will help your customers reach their decarbonisation goals as efficient and effective as possible as well as more transactional services based opportunities


In this position you will be reporting to General Manager, Sales UK and Ireland, Marine Power. You will be in the UK focussed on primarily UK West coast / Scottish based opportunities.


Main responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain close contact between the company with existing and new customers that leads to new sales of products, services and solutions 
  • Execute the Wartsila Services strategy, with particular focus on development projects Maintain regular contact by visiting key personnel in customer organisations and to present the offering of all category products in a manner reflecting the Company's values
  • Develop an understanding of our customers business in order to create suitable and compelling valued offering that will enhance their business
  • Assist customers with budget planning for maintenance of all Wartsila products where identified
  • Maintain a CRM opportunity pipeline and issue visit reports within agreed timescales
  • Work proactively within a team of support staff, i.e. coordinators, engineers, design teams and site supervisors
  • Achieve sales targets according to the number of customers allocated, and to achieve the agreed profit margin
  • Meet the specific performance targets allocated to the function by the General Manager - Sales
  • Comply with the company's Quality, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.


What makes me a strong candidate?

  • Experienced Sales Manager with a proven track record in delivering business results.
  • Commercial: Eager to grow the business, close the deals – still securing required profit margins.
  • Negotiation skills, proficient at negotiations, both technically and commercially and able to close deals
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Presentation skills, ability to adapt the messaging to the audience.
  • Strong team/team building capacity.
  • Tolerance to work under stress in a complex business environment.
  • Previous experience from shipowner sales business considered an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of marine power plant, propulsion and electrical systems would be desirable.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willingness to travel (mainly within the area).
  • Education: A University/Bachelor (preferable in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering)


Experience:

  • Ideally 10+ years work experience.
  • Ideally 5+ years customer facing sales experience.
  • Experience leading a team is considered an advantage but not a pre requisite.
  • Experience working within Wartsila is considered a positive.
