Design Engineer

We are now looking for a

 

Mechanical Design Engineer

 

to join our team. The position is permanent and full-time, connected to our office in Valencia office in Spain. Candidates should reside within a daily commuting distance from our office and be European citizens or hold a permanent residency visa. 

 

What will you be doing
 
In this role, you will be part of our Technical Support Team and will be responsible for developing multidisciplinary design concepts, creating CAD models, and drafting specifications and technical procedures to support our underwater business activities. You will also supervise the fabrication of concepts/products and assist during the sales phase by creating technical specifications and cost estimations. Our ideal candidate will have an associate degree in mechanical design and 5+ years of experience working with relevant fields of experience or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience.

 

As Mechanical Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:  

 

  • Provide mechanical and structural engineering assistance in multidisciplinary diving projects
  • Responsible for the mechanical design of various concepts and products used by the business, such as underwater cofferdams, habitats, and speciality tools.
  • Utilize CAD tools to create 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical designs and capable of doing hand calculations or using various FEA tools for both static and dynamic simulations 
  • Contribute to the development of engineered lifting plans, including producing detailed drawings and performing calculations.
  • Generate models and technical drawings to support procedures and work instructions
  • Design enclosures/containers, racks, parts, and features for diving systems.
  • Become the in-house authority on structural design issues and able to analyse all mechanical aspects of a concept/products
  • Interpret and apply industry and classification standards.
  • Contribute to developing technical procedures and/or instructions to ensure safe use of products.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:  

 

  • Strong understanding of welded, bolted, joints and ability to analyse them. 
  • Good proficiency with CAD software and expert proficiency with FEA software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques (forming, machining, welding, and inspection/testing) used in the manufacture of fabricated metal parts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good written and verbal English and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work with international teams from different backgrounds and time zones.

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet our customers or provide local support to other UWS offices. We expect you to be ready to travel approximately 20% of the time, although most meetings may be held virtually.
