Marine Technician

Marine Technician

We are now looking for a Marine Technician to join our crew of our work boats, supervising and making the maintenance of our work boats, and giving support to our teams of divers. Your job will be in the Port of Valencia and working hours will normally run from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of eight hours continued. However, due to the nature of the role as well as the services we provide, the flexibility to work outside these central hours and during weekends is essential.

The position is looking forward in the future starting with 6 month and seeing if both parts are satisfied.  

The preferred location for the position is in Valencia, Spain, but also other provinces are possible locations.

 

Our team provides several kinds of underwater services, such as the following:

 

  • Underwater inspections with teams of divers, underwater cameras, CCTV video, equipment, work boat, breathing equipment from the surface with registered standard umbilical lines and full-face positive pressure masks and helmets.

 

  • Underwater maintenance of facilities and installations. Wide range of submerged and semi-submerged installation maintenance carried out with a variety of material such as suckle/draw out equipment, pressure hoses and a variety of tools including cutting and welding equipment.

 

  • Maritime and hydraulic construction works. Execution and participation in a wide range of maritime and hydraulic work with teams of divers, solid stream nozzles, wide range of tools including cutting and welding underwater equipment for sea ground levelling, dredging, underwater shuttering, cable and pipeline laying, concrete pumping, drawer anchoring, concrete slabs, dock repair.

 

  • Environment and sea bottom recovery. Sea bottom cleaning, searches and extraction of material, data collection, boat refloating, sunk material extraction. With team of divers, workboats, lifting bags, wide variety of rigging equipment, crane vans, waste containers, including transport to granted dump site for maritime garbage.

 

  • Crewed services. Workboat rental with crew service and crew services for other company workboats including control and maintenance of the boats.

 

As a Marine Technician you will be part of the crew of our work boats, supervising and making the maintenance of our work boats, and giving support to our teams of divers.

 

Your job will be in the Port of Valencia and working hours will normally run from Monday to Friday, with a maximum of eight hours continued. What will you be doing?

 

As a Marine Technician, your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Exercise as a Chief Engineer on our work boats, whose engines will not exceed 750KW propulsion power, which perform their work inside the port, and can also carry out navigations to other ports of the Spanish Mediterranean Coast.

 

    • To supervise and carry out the maintenance and repair of the work boats in your charge.
    • Check the expiration of the work boat certificates required for it to be operational.
    • Check the register of maintenance of the engines of the work boats.
    • Be available to the Team Leader or divers in underwater work for which the use of the work boat is required.

As an ideal candidate you must have

 

  • Certificate of Unlimited Motorman (issued by the Spanish General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, according to the provisions of the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 as amended).
  • Certificate of Basic Training in Maritime Safety (issued by the Spanish General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, according to the provisions of the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 as amended).
  • Updated Medical Examination for Sea-service in accordance with ILO MCL 2006 and IMO STCW 78 (as amended) and RD 1696/2007, December 14th, maritime shipping medical examinations.
  • Extensive experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer on ships up to 750 KW propulsion power.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core day shift hours is essential (e.g. evenings and weekends).

  • Certificate of Security Training for Seafarers with designated Security Duties (issued by the Spanish General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, according to the provisions of the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 as amended).
  • Certificate of Port Skipper (issued by the Spanish General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, according to the provisions of the International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978 as amended).
  • Certificate in Occupational Risk Prevention, according to Spanish standards.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Driving license and own vehicle.
