Our team is looking for a passionate 2-Stroke Field Service Coordinator for Contracts & Agreements to become part of our dedicated team.

 

The position is based in Spain, and, in accordance with our hybrid work model, you will be able to work 100% remotely with availability to travel 20% of the time.

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As the Service Coordinator for Dry-Docking of Vessels with 2-Stroke Dual-Fuel Engines, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of dry-docking activities by dedicated Field Service teams. You will be involved in the preparation, planning, coordination, and oversight of all field service activities related to engine overhauls during the dry-docking period. This position requires close collaboration with Maintenance Planners, Contract Managers, Sales representatives, shipyards, agents, and both internal and external teams to ensure that all work is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with Wärtsilä's stringent Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Planning and Coordination: Develop and manage comprehensive dry-docking plans for vessels with dual fuel two stroke (X72DF) engines, ensuring that all planned maintenance and repair activities are scheduled and coordinated effectively within the given time window.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact between Contracts and Agreements and Field Service teams, shipyards, shipowners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders (Sales, Spare Parts Coordinators, FS Resource Planners) during the dry-docking process, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Field Service Logistics: Ensure that all required spare parts, FS tools, accommodation and transportation arrangements for FS teams are in place beforehand, enabling the FS groups to commence works promptly.
  • Engine Maintenance Oversight: Collaborate with the FS Site Manager to monitor and oversee maintenance and repair work progress, ensuring that all tasks are completed within the agreed time span, and report progress to FS Management and C&A.
  • Cost and Time Management: Monitor and control the budget and schedule for dry-docking activities, ensuring projects are completed within the agreed timelines and cost parameters.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all dry-docking activities, including daily reports, maintenance logs, and service documentation (time sheets), oversight of costs ensuring accurate and timely handover to stakeholders (Contracts & Agreements, Invoicing department).
  • Problem-Solving Engagement: Actively identify and participate in resolving issues or challenges that arise during the dry-docking process, coordinating with relevant technical teams to implement effective solutions that are time- and cost-efficient and align same with Shipowners
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all dry-docking activities comply with Wärtsilä's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, addressing any non-conformities promptly.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-docking reviews and debriefs to identify areas for continuous improvement in future dry-docking operations. Share insights with C&A, Sales, TechSupport, and FS Management to enhance Wärtsilä's service offering

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in coordinating FS activities, dry-docking, or similar ship maintenance operations, with specific expertise in 2-stroke engines.
  • Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles, ship repair processes, and dry-docking procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee complex technical operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project management tools will be beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethics, health, safety, quality, and environmental protection.
