Field Service Mechanical Engineer

Are you passionate about mechanical engineering and ready to take on exciting challenges in the marine industry? 

 

We are looking for a Field Service Mechanical Engineer to join our team, with a primary focus on performing Field Service activities on 4-Stroke Marine Engines and Propulsion Systems.

 

The preferred locations for this position are Bermeo or Valencia, Spain.

 

Your Role and Responsibilities

 

 

As a Field Service Mechanical Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems and equipment at marine and power plant locations.
  • Assisting in the setup, testing, and initial operation of new mechanical systems and equipment to ensure proper installation and functionality.
  • Supporting the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of mechanical systems and components during scheduled overhauls to maintain optimal performance.
  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on various types of 4-stroke engines, including Diesel, Gas, and Dual Fuel engines.
  • Maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting different types of propulsion equipment, such as Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP), Thrusters, and waterjets.
  • Travelling extensively (approximately 80% of the time) to various sites to provide on-site mechanical support and services.
  • Communicating effectively in written and spoken English.

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

 

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, overhauls, and commissioning, including the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, perform comprehensive overhauls, and assist in the setup and testing of new installations.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, particularly with Wärtsilä’s 4-stroke engines and propulsion systems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently for field service assignments.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to collective goals and supporting team members.
  • Proficiency in documenting and reporting on work performed, including maintaining detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and any issues encountered
  • Strong English skills (written and spoken).
