Field Service Superintendent Engineer, 2 Stroke

We are looking for a safety & quality minded, dynamic, flexible and detail oriented high performer to join our fast paced and exciting Services Team as a Field Service Superintendent Engineer.


You will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team of Field Services professionals who are able to independently work and take decisions under pressure in combination with analytical/critical thinking and excellent knowledge about 2-stroke engines.


Location for this position is Torremolinos, Malaga Spain.


Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct overhauls of engine components at site/on board including some in situ machining.
  • Perform Field Service activities according to the work plan.
  • Perform advanced mechanical as well as electronic & automation and system integration related troubleshooting on 2-stroke engines and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform technical advisory for repair activities executed on customers responsibility.
  • Perform mechanical commissioning.
  • On site team leading and managing of the assigned team and related activities during the work execution.
  • Interact with customers during the work execution - Interacting with FS back office and TS during work execution.
  • Perform internal and external progress status up-dates of the assigned work.
  • Prepare Service Work Reports and travel expenses on time and with expected Wartsila quality.
  • Proactively consult, advise and promote Wärtsilä solutions and products to customer.


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • BSc degree and/or proven experience in field service work with Wartsila engines as team lead.
  • Strong knowledge on auxiliary equipment 
  • Awareness of electrical troubleshooting
  • Fluent oral and written English skills 
  • Fluent reporting skills; daily basis in written and verbally, final report
  • Capable for smooth interaction with customer representative as well internal stakeholders
  • Good skills in MS Office and Wärtsilä FS reporting tools
