Product Warranty Expert
We are now looking for a Product Warranty Expert (PWE) to join our Product Warranty Management, Gas Solutions team.
This position is permanent, based in Valencia, Spain or Gdynia, Poland or Asker, Norway
Product Warranty Expert will have to engage and be interested in challenges technically, commercially and contractually.
The position requires close and professional supplier interaction to ensure quality improvement based on client claims and via
technical input or expertise. It will be important to act as a facilitator and always be in control over the negotiations.The Product Warranty
Expert will also have the encouraged mandate to transfer supplier business development possibilities during and after warranty period
to the aftermarket Services department.
Product Warranty Expert will whenever needed corporate with the technical supportive teams, sales, quality department, strategic purchasers and project department
for ongoing warranty claims and supplier improvement work.
What will you be doing In this position?
- You will be responsible for and manage assigned projects during the warranty lifecycle period.
- A position where you will manage warranty claims/cases including re-claiming towards suppliers and customer interface.
- You will be assigned to cover all product lines within Wärtsilä Gas Solutions and responsible for transferring adequate supplier product improvements internally.
Product Warranty Expert will be able to utilize internal network of experts, facilitate and take active part in supplier negotiations to secure successfully resolution of
the case and to mitigate the negative impact on Wärtsilä and our customers.
The target will be to strengthen the product line development and financial return of a product / project over its lifecycle, balancing the interest of a long-term conscience work towards quality and sustainability.
As a Product Warranty Expert, your work will focus on Ensuring timely processing and decision making on warranty claims for assigned installations.
- Engaging to the way of working and approach with the rest of the team and according to the global Wärtsilä processes.
- Monitoring actual warranty cost vs. reservation for assigned installations to ensure adequate reservations.
- Managing warranty claims and responding to them in a fast and professional way in line with defined warranty handling process including data maintenance for relevant products/projects.
- Securing that needed corrective actions resulting from warranty claims are taken in a timely fashion in cooperation with the Supplier Development department.
- Managing needed actions such as re-claiming suppliers and ordering replacement parts / providing manpower to rectify warranty claims in a fast and professional manner.
- Mitigating warranty and failure costs for Wärtsilä and our customers.
- Escalating technical / financial issues in timely manner.
Main Responsibilities
- Foster customer satisfaction in all activities
- Proactively participate in the operative work in the warranty team lead by the Warranty Manager
- Respond to claims in a fast and professional way.
- Secure that necessary corrective actions resulting from warranty claims are taken in a timely fashion (provision of parts/manpower)
- Ensure that accurate reporting, including warranty cost management (provision calculations/estimates), is done on time and in the agreed manner
- Secure that reclaiming of vendors is done properly and that vendor warranty credits are booked to the warranty work number in question
- Escalate Customer Assistance projects immediately when encountered and take active part in these projects as a project member
- Secure feedback and internal reporting to involved stake holders
- Minimize warranty and failure costs for Wärtsilä and customers
- Ensuring fast technical resolution (focus on lead time)
- Establish own network of contacts in order to secure smooth and efficient handling of warranty claims
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Bachelor/Master’s degree in one of the Engineering fields.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within the Maritime, Oil & Gas or Energy industries.
- Good working knowledge of project & technical documentation like P&ID’s, datasheets and drawings.
- Systematic, structured and broad orientation.
- Excellent negotiation skills in client & supplier communications and multi-tasks.
- Technical, commercial and contractual knowledge
- Self-motivated with the ability to work and take decision under pressure and stay organised.
- Ability to cooperate with people from different cultures
- Experience in CRM tools / SAP is an advantage.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
