Senior Service Engineer, Mechanical - 4-Stroke Engines

We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer Mechanical to join our Field Service team in Spain, leading and executing complex service activities on 4-stroke marine engines and propulsion systems. In this role, you will act as the key technical expert on-site, guiding the work, supporting the team, and ensuring high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

 

Your role and responsibilities

 

As a Senior Service Engineer Mechanical, you will:

 

  • Lead and supervise field service operations for mechanical works on 4-stroke engines and propulsion systems
  • Perform and oversee advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities at customer sites
  • Take ownership of major overhauls, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of critical components
  • Execute and lead commissioning and start-up activities for new installations
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to field service teams and subcontractors on-site
  • Act as the main technical interface with customers, ensuring clear communication and high service standards
  • Work across Diesel, Gas, and Dual Fuel 4-stroke engines
  • Troubleshoot and maintain propulsion systems (CPP, Thrusters, Waterjets)
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Travel extensively (up to 80%) to support global field service activities
  • Prepare service reports, technical documentation, and recommendations for continuous improvement

 

Requirements for the position

 

  • Extensive hands-on experience with 4-stroke engines (Diesel, Gas, Dual Fuel), ideally in marine environments
  • Proven track record in leading overhauls, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams on-site and manage complex service projects independently
  • Strong expertise in marine propulsion systems (CPP, thrusters, waterjets)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
  • Solid customer-facing experience, with the ability to build trust and manage expectations
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and safety awareness
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel globally (approx. 80%)
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and cross-functional environments
