Join our fast-paced Field Services team as a Senior Service Engineer. You’ll execute field assignments, lead complex troubleshooting, and act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal stakeholders—always with a safety-first mindset.
What you’ll do
- Execute Field Service activities safely, on time, and to quality standards per the work plan.
- Perform troubleshooting (tests, fine-tuning, performance adjustments) and resolve complex issues.
- Execute installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover to customers when required.
- Perform major/complex Electrical & Automation tasks per manuals and technical documentation, aligned with your development plan.
- Lead small teams on site; coordinate tasks, safety, and progress.
- Provide advanced training and technical guidance to local Field Service resources.
- Act as local mechanical/technical advisor in customer meetings; support sales with technical input.
- Conduct field tests; document results and drive corrective actions and product/process improvements.
- Prepare accurate progress updates and Service Work Reports; report hours and expenses per process.
- Ensure compliance with Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, Environment (QHSE) and customer site procedures.
- Maintain professional communication with customers and close coordination with your line manager.
- Be available for assignments within Colombia and abroad; uphold Wärtsilä values and applicable legal/company policies.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or related Engineering field.
- 5+ years’ hands-on experience with Wärtsilä engines or comparable large-bore ICEs (Diesel, HFO, Gas, Dual Fuel).
- Strong knowledge of Wärtsilä (or equivalent OEM) systems and solutions; ability to read drawings and control-system data.
- Proven field service, commissioning, and complex troubleshooting experience; able to lead tests and collaborate with R&D/customers.
- Core skills: customer focus, planning and target setting, analytical reporting, presentations, cost awareness, and stakeholder management.
- Language: Fluent Spanish and intermidiate English; additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
