Service Engineer

We are now looking to welcome a Service Engineer to join our skilled team within Marine Global Field Service Pool. 

 

This is a traveling role, and the home base will be in Budaörs, Hungary.

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Service Engineer, you will perform Field Service activities such as overhauls, maintenance, and troubleshooting on our Wärtsilä 4-stroke marine diesel engines.

 

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have technical experience in marine/energy engineering and proven expertise in installation operation and maintenance, along with repair of 4-stroke marine/energy diesel engines. As an ideal candidate, you have a safety-first attitude, along with critical thinking and reasoning skills.

 

In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work on local projects as well as globally, traveling for approximately 150 days per year (depending on the local/global requirements). Therefore, we are looking for candidates who are ready and willing to travel, who possess a strong Field Service mindset. When you are not traveling, you are able to work remotely.  

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Perform Mechanical maintenance and/or troubleshooting on Wärtsilä products or similar medium bore diesel engines.
  • Overhaul engine components in workshop and at site/onboard including some in situ machining.
  • Carry out engine product trouble shooting, routine maintenance & components investigation.
  • Check and adjust relevant systems (i.e. auxiliary equipment).
  • Pre-commissioning of engines and Perform Mechanical commissioning.
  • Identify failures, making adjustments, assist on trial runs and testing of Mechanical installations according to instructions.
  • Provide internal and external work reports according to Wärtsilä standards. Perform site audits.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you have:
 

  • B. Sc. or M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant technical educational background
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of Wärtsilä products or similar medium bore diesel engines.
  • Strong knowledge of auxiliary equipment.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills will be considered as an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with creating technical reports.
  • Strong English and Hungarian language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to maintain performance when faced with a hectic work environment.
  • Passion for learning, professional growth, and development.
  • Willingness to travel full-time globally.
  • Awareness of cost and effectiveness, and the impact you can have.
  • Valid B driver’s license.
