Project Integration Engineer

We are looking for a Project Integration Engineer who will work in Wartsila Marine Power Ship Electrification Solutions (SES) in our Korean team located in Busan.

 

In this role you will be reporting to the local Manager whilst technically this new position will closely work with the engineering teams in Norway, Germany within SES. What are your main tasks and responsibilities? Project Integration Engineer will follow Wartsila package integrated projects which include complicated electric propulsion project, integrated hybrid/battery systems project execution in Korea and other Asia ship building countries, with responsibility for:

  • Customer daily technical clarifications
  • Different products interface and functional clarifications
  • Internal communication with European SES engineers
  • Sub supplier technical communications
  • Visiting shipyard onsite to clarify technical issues and responsibility
  • Communicating risks, issues and solutions to colleagues with various technical backgrounds
  • Developing lessons learnt to improve design, process and efficiency for future performance
  • Attending and leading interface meetings both internally and with customer, factory acceptance test if required o technical support to sales projects

  

What do we expect from you?

Desired Skills:

  • Familiar with marine equipment and Class standard/rules requirements
  • Familiar with generator, transformer, switchboard, PMS, frequency converter, motor design, energy storage system(mainly lithium-ion battery system) and work principle as well as having experience of control software
  • Have knowledge of vessel electric design philosophy and electrical networks/distribution systems
  • Know basic commercial process and knowledge
  • Good understanding of customers and their business
  • Situational and cultural sensitivity skills
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills both in English and Korean
  • Cost awareness & effectiveness o Ability to work under pressure, in teams, self-motivation, respond positively to challenges.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in electric and automation
  • Previous experience in marine power electric system or marine control systems
  • Fluency in both Korean & English languages with good spoken & written skills
