Job Description – Plant Technician, Electrical - Curacao

In Energy Services, we support Wärtsilä’s customers in meeting their business and decarbonisation goals. We do this by optimising cost, emissions and reliability at a plant and microgrid level. We implement solutions such as decarbonisation services and outcome-based service agreements, which include quantifiable targets that are mutually agreed based on customer needs. Growing the coverage of these service agreements is a strategic priority for Wärtsilä.
We are now looking for a high performing, future-oriented and talented Plant Technician, Electrical to join our team in and support the implementation of our strategy to drive decarbonisation in our Decarbonisation Services Agreement in Curaçao.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for economical and safe maintenance of the plant during the designated shift. To comply with all safety regulations including isolation, lock out and tag out.
- Responsible for maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good conditions of cleanliness.
- Responsible for starting the local and remote engines and synchronising them. Presenting immediate solutions of protection of the equipment in cases of possible flaws.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor as required.
- Coach and mentor other technicians and general labour.
- Resolve abnormalities that occur in the DC system of the plant.
- Inspect engines electrical systems of the engines, auxiliary equipment and other existent equipment in the plant to detect electrical faults and take the necessary steps for the prevention and correction of the referred abnormalities.
- Be able to identify and correct abnormalities that occur to the excitation systems of the engines as well as the test the protection and supervision equipment of these excitation systems.
- Reconditioning and overhaul of engine’s electrical components.
- Carry out corrective inspections and maintenance of all electrical equipment and supervision of the engines.
- Maintenance of electrical tools, fixtures, cutting tools and hand tools
- Support Techncial Advisor during troubleshooting
- Carry out planned and corrective maintenance of battery storage system including battery racks, modules, rack switchgear, GridSolv Quantum enclosure and internal components, ACC and DCC internal cabinet and internal components, inverter and inverter transformer
- Conduct site checks and inspections on the battery storage system
