Job Description – Technical Advisor E&A - Curacao

In Energy Services, we support Wärtsilä’s customers in meeting their business and decarbonisation goals. We do this by optimising cost, emissions and reliability at a plant and microgrid level. We implement solutions such as decarbonisation services and outcome-based service agreements, which include quantifiable targets that are mutually agreed based on customer needs. Growing the coverage of these service agreements is a strategic priority for Wärtsilä. 

 

We are now looking for a high performing, future-oriented and talented E&A Technical Advisor to join our team and support the implementation of our strategy to drive decarbonisation in our Decarbonisation Services Agreement in Curaçao.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Prepare monthly summary report of plant equipment status and its current condition and level of performance with corrective and preventive actions based on Performance Dashboard maintaining the definitions defined in the agreement. Supporting the customer on: 
    • Maintenance of Wärtsilä supplied equipment (Engines, BESS and GEMS), as per standard procedures and tools specified in OEM manuals.
    • Facilitate /Arrange troubleshooting and repair of Wärtsilä supplied equipment (Engines, BESS and GEMS) in the facility from OEM /Wärtsilä 
    • Assist customer with warranty claim process and procedures with support from Lead Warranty Manager.
  • Notify the Customer in consultation with Agreement Manager proactively about non-compliance with applicable safety rules and policies on site.
  • Identifying required skills and competence gaps in various roles in Customer site personnel and suggest Trainings that could be delivered by Wärtsilä/OEM. Same to be documented in monthly meetings.
  • Identifying and actively seeking for improvement in equipment and plant efficiency and in potential risk areas regarding operational reliability and availability. These need to be discussed and documented with Wärtsilä suggestions for improvement. This task shall be followed up on continuous basis together with the customer.
  • Apply partnership approach in daily and monthly meetings towards Customer to explain the consequences of neglect, failure to act or delay in action towards Wärtsilä recommendation that may adversely affect the plant performance. Escalate to Agreement Manager with details,
  • Continuously share reports from Performance Dashboard highlighting the deviations in plant operations parameters that will affect the performance guarantees that Wärtsilä is giving under the contract. 
  • Well documented communication record with information about the advice and recommendations provided by the engineer and its team during the term of the agreement and follow up 
  • Involve Operations Support to secure a record of the engines and auxiliaries’ running parameters, update fluid analysis data, running hours, standby hours, planned and unplanned maintenance hours in the CM data base monthly or as per Customer requirements defined in the agreement.
  • Guide in a consultative manner with Customer in planning, organising and executing all planned and unplanned maintenance of the power plant, BESS and GEMS and assist/guide the Customer in minor maintenances.
  • Regular communication with agreement support functions regarding abnormalities observed which may need Root Cause Analyses (RCA) specifying corrective and preventive maintenance actions.
  • Warranty Management: Facilitate team working with regular meetings and communication with the local Wärtsilä network company resources (such as local/central Customer Assistance resource, Agreement Manager and dedicated operations and maintenance experts) discuss Warranty status on claims and open warranty matters. Include Warranty claim updates in consultation with Lead Warranty Manager in the weekly/monthly reports. 
  • Support and Guide to develop standard operational procedures for the power plant.
  • Keep Agreement Manager updated with Customer business scenario and foreseeable changes that may affect our business relationship.
  • Advise customer on obsolescence and provide quotations for upgrade / modifications.
  • Look for upselling opportunities in consultation with Agreement Manager.
  • Understanding customers business short-term and long-term strategy, business environment key value drivers and investment possibilities.
  • Understand Customer electricity demand and microgrid dynamics with other power sources mix
  • Follow Customer decarbonisation plans and provide inputs for improvement.
  • Understand the operating battery limits with responsibility matrix as defined in Agreement
  • Establish standard operating procedures in accordance with agreement scope.

 

Desired Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Controls & Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
