Service Engineer - Field Service

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field service activities according to assigned work plans on modern marine diesel, dual-fuel, gas engines, and power generation DG sets, including troubleshooting, inspections, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Carry out major and minor overhauls, repairs, and component replacements on medium-speed 4-stroke engines, including piston and liner work, cylinder head servicing, fuel injection equipment maintenance, and turbocharger overhauls.
  • Diagnose faults, conduct operational checks, perform performance tuning, and make necessary adjustments to optimize engine reliability and performance.
  • Interact professionally with customers during service execution, maintaining a strong customer-focused and service-oriented approach.
  • Provide regular progress updates on assigned work to the Field Service Superintendent, Service Engineers, customers, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit accurate Service Work Reports, including findings, measurements, test results, parts used, corrective actions, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance to the customers on the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of engines and associated systems.
  • Respond effectively to customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints by providing clear explanations, technical support, and practical solutions.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Wärtsilä QEHS requirements, site safety procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor, follow up, and report the status of work orders and service activities to relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuously identify improvement opportunities and implement best practices to enhance safety, quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.

 

Preferred Competencies

  • Candidates with experience and expertise in the following areas will be preferred:
  • Napier and ABB Turbochargers.
  • Fuel Oil and Lube Oil Separators.
  • Power Plant Auxiliary Systems.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in the maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting of medium-speed diesel, dual-fuel, and gas engines.
