Wärtsilä is seeking a Graduate Engineer Trainee (Mechanical) to join our team at the BelAir, Dakar in Senegal. In this role you will undergo structured training to develop technical and leadership skills required to supervise mechanical maintenance operations. This role is designed to prepare the trainee for future responsibilities in managing mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily mechanical maintenance activities at the plant and/or assigned team.
- Ensure that the performance targets of the plant are reached according to the contract in own responsibility area.
- Monitor the condition of maintenance equipment, materials, spare parts, and tools and ensure those are maintained according to applicable guidelines and policies and take corrective actions when needed.
- Ensure that the work is executed at plant according to Wartsila Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures as well as assigned maintenance plan.
- Prepare and submit work reports for all activities performed by the maintenance team.
- Inspect completed work to ensure that repairs have been completed correctly and that machinery and equipment conform to specifications and safety standards.
- Develop the maintenance working routines at the plant.
- Prioritize and assign tasks so that assigned team resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university in Senegal with good academic record.
Experience: Internship or practical exposure in mechanical maintenance preferred.
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
- Fluency in English.
- Fluency in French
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
- Good interpersonal & communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High integrity and ownership.
- Target-oriented and self-motivated.
