Main Responsibilities:

  • To implement Health, Safety & Environmental Procedures and develop local work procedures to comply with legal obligations.
  • To develop, implement and monthly review the Health, Safety & Environment Management Plan and communicate the plan at all level.
  • Maintain the risk register (HIRAC), and ensure that risk assessments are completed for all activities with risk mitigation plans. Review it periodically and after any high risk /injury incident.
  • To seek support and work closely with the Customer Safety Manager; and the applicable country Occupational Health Department and Corporate Safety Manager
  • To receive and investigate reports of high potential near miss incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences and fire damage, determine their causes and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls.
  • To maintain WeCare system updated for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences.
  • Ensure critical incidents are investigated within 7 days and corrective actions are implemented within agreed timeline.
  • Develop and implement solutions for emergency preparedness plans for site.
  • Ensure Fire Arrangements are maintained in good order and fire drills are carried out.
  • Ensure that mock drills are carried out for all identified emergency situation.
  • Ensure that necessary personal protective equipment are made available to individual employees as per his nature of job.
  • Prepare and coordinate the health, safety & environmental audit, and the audit process. Monitor that audit recommendations are being implemented within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure safety precautions are displayed at applicable locations
  • Ensure Safety flash / Safety sharing is conveyed to all employees and applicable learnings are discussed /implemented at site.
  • Monitoring the health check-up compliance status of employees
  • Promote Wartsila’s Safety campaigns, Safety initiatives with site team.
  • Support in reporting and investigation in case of unsafe act, safety violations by employees
  • Maintain First aid box & ensure Monthly inspection
  • Ensure all firefighting equipment’s are in healthy condition
