Project Scheduler - (Toronto/Montreal)

- This role is primarily home-based office, but occasional site/office visits may be required.
- May involve some travel up to 10%.
Job Summary:
The Project Scheduler plays a critical role within our engineering team, responsible/assisting in developing and maintaining comprehensive project schedules for product development & combining changes to a block “block change management” to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects. The project scheduler will be responsible for running project scrums/standup meetings & block change management coordination. This position involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create realistic and achievable project timelines. The Project Scheduler will also monitor progress, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development: Create and maintain project schedules using scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project) that outline project tasks, durations, dependencies, and resource allocations.
- Scrums for Progress Monitoring: Regularly run scrums to monitor project progress, engage project team, update schedules, and communicate any deviations from the planned timeline to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams (e.g., sourcing, SD&Q, logistics, delivery team, integrators) to identify critical milestones, and ensure alignment between project goals and scheduling.
- Resource Allocation: Collaborate with project managers/functional managers to allocate and manage resources (personnel, equipment, and materials) based on project requirements and constraints.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential scheduling conflicts, delays, and resource constraints and propose mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines.
- Communication/Reporting: Effectively communicate project schedules, progress, and potential risks to project stakeholders, including project managers, engineering teams, and PD hardware engineering management.
- Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of project schedules and related documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements and best practices for project scheduling and execution to enhance overall project management efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project schedules and historical data for future reference and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a project scheduler in an engineering environment.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
- Strong understanding of engineering project management principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized to maintain accurate project schedules and documentation.
- Problem-solving skills to propose effective solutions to scheduling challenges.
- Familiarity with engineering terminology and processes is a plus.
