Team Lead, Project Engineering Automation

Our alarm and control systems are designed to control, monitor, and analyse vessel devices and processes. The system comprises both software and hardware components, enabling data collection from field equipment both on-board and remotely. This capability allows our customers to manage energy savings, such as fuel consumption, in power plants and air conditioning systems.
 

We are now looking for a Team Lead, Project Engineering Automation.

 

The location for the position is in Drammen, Norway. We offer the possibility to hybrid work. 

 

What you will be doing 
In this position, your work will include leading, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers, contributing to the planning, execution, and delivery of automation projects, and developing and implementing engineering strategies that align with company goals. On a typical day, you might start with providing technical guidance and support to the engineering team and end the day working closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and field service, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a high level of independence, as you will have support from your engineering team and cross-functional teams.

 

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have an understanding in engineering or automation and experience from working with automation engineering. As an ideal candidate, you have gained experience from at least five years in automation engineering and have a degree in engineering, automation, or a related field, with a master's degree preferred. For you to succeed in the position, we hope you to have proven leadership and team management skills, good project management and organizational abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
 

As Team Lead, Project Engineering Automation, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. 
  • Contribute to the planning, execution, and delivery of automation projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with company goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and field service, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  • Allocate and manage resources effectively to optimize project outcomes and team performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Contribute to Strategic Account Plans for assigned key partners and end-users.
  • Contribute to contract reviews, and hand over projects to the project teams.
  • Maintain technical tools and relevant platforms for the engineering team.
  • Initiate necessary travel to fulfil responsibilities.
  • Request necessary resources to ensure timely, correct, and cost-effective execution of the engineering tasks.

 

The Team Lead role will also include managing of new build an refit projects:

  • Define project goals and scope, establishing clear objectives and deliverables.
  • Create detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about project progress and any issues.
  • Track project progress and performance, and report to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards.
  • Address any issues or obstacles that arise during the project.
  • Motivate and guide the project team to achieve their best performance.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Automation, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering, managerial experience is an advantage.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Good project management and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 20%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
