We are looking for a 


Business Controller


to join the Business Control Team of Business Unit Propulsion in Marine Power. You will perform the controlling activities for all Propulsion related business in the Netherlands as well as global tasks for the Business Unit. Moreover, you will perform some local controlling tasks for other Business Units.


Your work will focus on these responsibilities:


  • Planning, forecasting and reporting of the Profit & Loss of Business Unit Propulsion in Wärtsilä Netherlands, including analysis of deviations
  • Analysis and breakdown of the above by Product Lines and products, in close cooperation with the Product Line Controllers
  • Performing project controlling for all Wärtsilä NL content of BU Propulsion’s customer contracts, cooperating with Project Managers and Engineering Managers and maintaining the projects in SAP
  • Period end closing activities and cost controlling for all newbuild related business units which have resources in the legal entity 
  • Monitoring of work in progress and ensuring the correct and timely intra-group invoicing of engineering works from the Netherlands to contracting companies
  • Planning and controlling of capacity costs and cost centres including calculation of hourly rates and master data maintenance
  • Monitoring of CATS reporting
  • Being a FiCo contact for internal and external auditors related to business matters
  • Supporting special projects and tasks as part of BU Propulsion’s Business Control team


 To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:


  • Personal drive, being used to taking initiative and being proactive
  • Educational level: A minimum of bachelor’s degree in business/finance
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Solid SAP skills particularly in FI, CO and Project System
  • Good financial knowledge, reporting and analysing skills
  • Ability to work effectively both as an independent financial specialist and also
    as part of the Business Control community and the global Propulsion organization
  • Development mindset with a proactive can-do attitude, not being afraid of challenge
  • Ability to handle multiple projects / tasks simultaneously
  • Good communication skills, fluent spoken and written English
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn and grow along the business requirements 
  • Ability to work under time pressure and with tight deadlines


The location for the position is preferably Drunen, the Netherlands, but also other locations might be considered.
