As a commissioning Engineer, you are responsible for all the commissioning of our propulsion products related to mechanical, hydraulics and controls during the building phase of a ship on location at the international site of our clients. You will test our systems on functionality and quality before official handover to the client during sea trials.

 

Our Global Field Service Propulsion in Drunen offers our maritime customers an optimal service by carrying out commissioning, maintenance and repair work of our propulsion products portfolio worldwide. Furthermore, we also offer a variety of electrotechnical services, and we are active in the fields of inspection and automation.

 

You are responsible for the commissioning of (complete) Ship propulsion systems. The ship's propulsion system consists of controllable pitch propellers, gearboxes, water jets, azimuth thrusters and transverse thrusters and associated operating systems.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • You act as a system commissioning engineer and perform and lead the related commissioning activities at the site.
  • Perform and coordinate all commissioning activities at the site.
  • Provide technical support to customers and engineers on location.
  • Solve project-related non-conformities during the construction period in both technical and financial sense.
  • You are also the contact for the Service Coordinator and the client, and you are responsible for final reporting.
  • You can work independently but are also able to lead groups of their employees and contractors during scheduled maintenance or repair.

 

What do we expect from you?

  • You have a Bachelor degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or can act on that level based on your experience.
  • A few years experience as an International Field Service Engineer preferably with propulsion equipment or equivalent experience in an international (matrix organized) industrial organization.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (worldwide) and stay abroad (+ / - 170 days a year abroad).
  • You are customer-oriented and result-oriented, enterprising, pragmatic, enthusiastic and you possess leadership skills.
  • Strong focus on our Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.
  • You have an open and accessible attitude in communication.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English both verbal and written is essential.
  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
