As an Electrical Expert for our Product Platform Thrusters & PCS you will be involved in technology innovations, new product development and upgrade projects. You will find yourself in the heart of the design and development of our Thruster portfolio with offices in Drunen (The Netherlands), Helsinki (Finland), Trieste (Italy), Stord (Norway) and Wuxi (China), with worldwide maritime customers.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Expert with a strong background in electrical engineering, expertise in electric motor design, and knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs). As an Electrical Expert, you will play a crucial role in our product development team, providing technical guidance and expertise in the electrical engineering aspects of our projects, specifically related to electric motor design and VFD integration.

In this position you will be part of our R&D Thruster and PCS team. This team consists of 40 technical professionals who are responsible for technology development, concept design, detailed design, validation & industrialisation that leads the way in Thruster product portfolio innovations. You will work in close cooperation with Mechanical Engineers and Experts, global customers, sales, supply management as well as external engineering partners. 

 

As an Electical Expert, your work will focus on these responsibilities:  

  

  • You develop new technology and concepts based on client or market intelligence and in accordance with our long-term product strategy.
  • Provide expert-level guidance and oversight in the electrical engineering activities related to electric motor design and VFD integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to develop innovative and efficient electrical solutions
  • Design, analyse, and optimize electrical systems and components for electric motors, also taking into account VFD requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical recommendations for motor design projects, considering VFD compatibility.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to electric motor design and VFD integration.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in the team.
  • You publish and present internally or externally your technical findings.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:   

 

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in electric motor design, including knowledge of motor control systems and power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and their integration with electric motors.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a (virtual) team environment.
  • Effective communication in English both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of the maritime industry or system integration is preferred.
