The Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy (WLSA) provides high-quality training services for the energy and marine markets globally. We are focusing on Wärtsilä product and solution training for our internal employees and external customers from around the world. For WLSA Netherlands the marine market is most important.

 

Are you interested in explaining our future technology to our internal colleagues and external customers? Do you wish to work with the latest simulators and (online) applications on top of the real equipment? Do you enjoy working with people and helping them to learn?

 

At Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy in The Netherlands, we are looking for an Instructor in engine electrical and automation systems. As ideal candidate you also have up-to-date knowledge on automation systems used in other Wärtsilä products and very familiar in network setups including firewalls and cyber security.

 

The location for this position is Drunen, The Netherlands.

 

Responsibilities

As an instructor, your main responsibility is the practical execution of training activities in our training centre or at site, for our external customers and own employees, face-to-face or via virtual classroom using Microsoft Teams.

 

To achieve this, you will have to:

  • Deliver training on Wärtsilä products.
  • Develop/ evaluate/ improve training programs and materials as well as new concepts. 
  • Set up the training equipment and simulators. 
  • Continue to develop your personal competence and skills.
  • Support the sales, planning and execution of training activities for customers and own personnel according to budgeted targets.
  • Customize standard learning solutions for specific target groups.
  • Lead or participate in projects within or outside WLSA for which technical knowledge and experience is needed.
  • Create and maintain networks and relations with the WLSA community and business stakeholders.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

  • BSc or MSc in electrical engineering or strong background reached by experience in a (preferably) maritime environment.
  • Practical experience as an international technical Instructor.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with the automation systems of Wärtsilä products.
  • Education or relevant experience in the maritime industry on mechanical engineering, automation, hydraulic systems and control systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result- and development-oriented way of working
  • Ability to work in an international environment with solid teamwork and networking skills.
  • Customer focus and orientation: understanding the business and analyzing the businesses’ training needs.
  • A self-driven person with a can-do attitude and able to work independently on multiple tasks and projects.
  • Extensive knowledge on training processes and activities with up-to-date knowledge of learning methods and trends.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing.

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Be ready to travel approximately 10-30% of your time.
