Lead Engineer Waterjets

In the position of 

 

Lead Engineer Waterjets

 

at Wärtsilä in Drunen (the Netherlands), you find yourself at the heart of our Propulsion business. In this team you work in a small but dedicated team with the focus on the Development, Design and Service of our Waterjet product portfolio.
 
In our business, no customer request is similar. Customers can be found all over the world, having their own specific needs and requirements for their high-speed vessels and the waterjets. The increased focus to reduce the industries’ impact to the environment and the dynamics of the business are making the mechanical design an interesting challenge.
 
Besides the other Waterjet Experts working in this team, you will have the chance to work with many other Wärtsilä departments, suppliers, and the customers.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • You will lead and drive product development and R&D projects
  • You will lead and engineer the waterjet scope for customer delivery projects
  • Some departmental management tasks, like department planning, will be your responsibility as well
  • Together with your colleagues you do the engineering for our product development and R&D projects.
  • From the start of a customer project, you will be involved. You provide engineering and technical support in the sales phase to make sure we offer the right solution to our customers.
  • Occasionally you will take part in product management and process development projects.

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • You hold a Bachelor or Master degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • In this position it would be a great benefit if you already have experience designing customer specific mechanical systems in the machine building, maritime or oil & gas industry.
  • Knowledge of CAD system (preferably NX) and PDM systems (Teamcenter).
  • Naval architect knowledge is a plus, since you will be working with maritime customers.
  • Since we are an international company, you will be working with people from different nationalities across the world, therefor good communication skills in English are a must.
