Product Life-Cycle Engineer, Propellers

 

to join our team working for a better future. 

 

The preferred location for the position is in Drunen, The Netherlands.

 

What you will be doing 

 

As Product Life-Cycle Engineer your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

⦁    Provide input to standard and project specific technical specifications to ensure technical quality of product quotations to customers
⦁    Define the cost/pricing structure for new products such as Wärtsilä Gate Rudder
⦁    Act as a technical expert supporting sales, sales engineering or customer solution engineering 
⦁    Act as a product representative in technical forums
⦁    Identify product opportunities, product issues and initiate development and resolutions
⦁    Cooperate with relevant internal stakeholders in own business unit and relevant external stakeholders, such as suppliers
⦁    Provide (technical) support to projects within Engineering and to other Wärtsilä stakeholders
⦁    Coordinate the product lifecycle processes for the lifecycle phases relevant to newbuild
⦁    Manage the creation and maintenance of product information, such as Product Guides, 2D drawings and 3D models
⦁    Participate in product development and/or product improvement projects by defining plans and requirement specifications
⦁    Specify new products, processes, standards based on organization strategy or set short- to mid-term operational plans
⦁    Contribute to sales and customer success 


To be successful in this role we expect you to have: 

 

⦁    Bachelor in a technical field (e.g. mechanical engineering, naval architecture) or equal
⦁    Have approximately 4-6 years relevant experience
⦁    Good understanding of the maritime industry and insight in Propulsion business
⦁    Understanding of integration of theory and practice
⦁    Fully competent in own area of expertise
⦁    Relevant communication skills to manage complex or sensitive discussions with internal and external stakeholders
⦁    Capable of identifying key issues and priorities and focusing on them to deliver required results.
⦁    Work well under limited direction and supervision

 

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
