We are looking for a 

 

Product Manager Propulsion, 

 

to join our Product Lifecycle Management team in Wärtsilä Marine.

 

The main purpose of Product Management in Lifecycle is to develop and implement the product lifecycle strategy for the products currently in portfolio and life cycle portfolio. 

 

What you will be doing 

 

The Product Manager develops and maintains the product lifecycle strategy & roadmaps for a mix of energy saving technology and waterjets propulsion products. Your main responsibility is to own the lifecycle of propulsion products in the life-cycle services market, with a mission to profitably grow the business through targeted developments and strengthened product lifecycle management measured through commercial product performance. You will report to the Manager Product Management. 

 

The preferred location for this position is Drunen, the Netherlands. Other possible locations include any of our offices in Norway or the Helsinki office in Finland (hybrid mode, with at least three days per week in the office).

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities as Product Manager?

 

  • You take ownership for assigned products with emphasis to product profitability.
  • Develop and maintain product lifecycle strategy & roadmaps and ensures the cross-business alignment.
  • Product life cycle management: maintenance schedule alignment, obsolescence management, spare part strategy and spare part assortment planning
  • Participate in cross -business strategy forums and ensures that life cycle activities are aligned across businesses.
  • Maintain and improve the commercial performance of the products and services.
  • Drives the offering development based on customer needs and ensure proper launch of new offerings suitable for the different stages of the lifecycle.
  • As Product Manager you integrate people, data, processes and business systems, and bridges gaps between teams of different areas of expertise.

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • A Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in marine engineering or mechanical engineering or equivalent. 
  • You have 5 years’ relevant experience with Product Life Cycle Management and/or the Marine Industry
  • Strong interest in the Marine Industry and related technologies
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in English, verbal and written. 
  • Strong analytical skills and thinking capability.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt and learn.
  • You lead and support others through change, operate and interact in many different environments and cultures.
  • You can motivate others and align people with our goal of continuous development.
