Devops Engineer

The Digital Development team is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer that can help them in taking predictive maintenance to the next level.

We are looking for a (senior) DevOps Engineer that will be able to maintain, improve and extend the current infrastructure and CI/CD setup within the Expert Insight service. You will be highly involved in making sure that the platform is able to grow and deal with an increasing number of installations (engines, scrubbers and other equipment) and users. DPD develops digital products for Wärtsilä business units (BU) in Marine Power, Marine Systems and Energy. DPD uses a common technology stack to generate insight from operational data, to make for example predictive maintenance- or efficiency optimisation products such as Wärtsilä Expert Insight. DPD is growing from around 100 to 120 professionals. DPD consists of around 15 agile teams organised in 4 tribes, with clear focus areas, led by Chief Product Owners. As a DevOps engineer you will be part of one of the agile teams and will develop and maintain our data platform.

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • You participate in maintaining and improving the AWS infrastructure for our data platform.
  • You work on tuning our Kubernetes setup for peak performance and resilience.
  • You collaborate with other teams and consult them on DevOps and cloud related issues
  • You improve and adapt our continuous integration/deployment pipeline(s) so that teams can have fast feedback and thus can effectively work.
  • You are continuously seeking ways to improve our DevOps practices that help improve our products.

What do we expect from you?

  • You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or at least 3 years of relevant experience with DevOps activities.
  • You have experience in AWS services, vpc & networking and large multi-account setups.
  • You have experience in Kubernetes administration as well as usage.
  • You have experience in Helm and Terraform.
  • You have experience with the serverless framework and serverless concepts such as AWS Lambda.
  • You maintain and build our Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines (experience in Bamboo is a plus)
  • You have basic Python and Java knowledge.
  • Ability to inspire and coach others with regards to DevOps.
  • Experience with automated testing on different levels is a plus.
  • Experience with Timeseries and noSQL databases is a plus.
  • Azure experience is a plus.
