We are looking for a Senior Technical Expert to provide the highest level of technical support to our customers for all our propulsion products, including Controllable Pitch Propellers, Waterjets, Rudders, and Fixed Pitch Propellers. The preferred location is Drunen, Netherlands, but Rubbestadneset, Norway is also negotiable.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Technical Expert, you will be part of our Technical Services Department, ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality, timely technical support for propulsion equipment. You will report to our Manager Expert Services.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
- Provide conceptual support to marine customers in collaboration with technical services product teams.
- Engineer solutions to adapt existing concepts to new lifecycle requirements.
- Perform on-site Expert investigation supporting root cause analysis.
- Develop and support overhaul and repair methods for the Wärtsilä propulsion portfolio.
- Contribute to the Wärtsilä product improvement process and product development activities.
- Collaborate closely with partner teams within Technical Service Propulsion and Expert Services to ensure efficient and world-class support.
A day in the life:
Start your day with a bike ride to work, followed by a refreshing shower. Work on repair instructions for waterjets and hand them over for review. Manage multiple projects, including a Torsional Vibration Analysis (TVA) to support a root cause analysis case. After a lunch walk, assist a colleague with a TechRequest using Siemens NX to calculate docking height for a steerable thruster. End your day satisfied with your progress and prepare for a three-day course at the Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy as part of your personal development plan.
As an ideal candidate you might also have…
- Bachelor or Academic degree in Mechanical engineering, Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- Advanced technical knowledge and interest in mechanics, hydraulics and machinery controls.
- Dutch and English language skills preferred.
- You have experience with 3D-Designing preferably in Siemens NX
- A true team player with a proactive approach and technical reporting skills.
- You are a strong communicator with good organizational and analytical skills.
- Customer focused with a service minded attitude.
- You are willing to travel occasionally.
