We are now looking for a Structural Expert to join the Thrusters Product Development team.
Location: Drunen, The Netherlands.
What will you be doing?
You are part of the Thrusters Product Development team, a dedicated team working on technology innovations, new product developments, and upgrade projects for our thruster products. You will be at the heart of the design and development of our Thruster portfolio, with offices in Drunen (The Netherlands), Helsinki (Finland), Trieste (Italy), and Wuxi (China), serving worldwide maritime customers.
Structural analysis is an important engineering tool in our product development process. As a Structural Expert you will support the product development projects by performing Finite Element Analyses on complete thruster systems, subsystems and components.

Main responsibilities:
- Conducting structural analysis: perform detailed analysis of (steerable) thruster systems and components, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
- Interpreting design specifications: ensure that designs comply with relevant class rules and standards, specifically for propulsion products.
- Collaborating with project teams: work closely with (lead) engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design intent is met and address any issues that arise within the propulsion product portfolio.
- Providing technical support: offer support during the development, construction, and post-construction phases to ensure the structural integrity of propulsion products.
- Feasibility studies: conduct studies and perform calculations to determine the feasibility of propulsion system designs.
- Modifying designs: update existing designs to reflect required changes and improvements in propulsion products.
- Reporting and/or presenting the results of the performed structural analyses.
- Maintaining and developing internal guidelines and processes for structural analysis.
- Staying updated: keep abreast of industry developments and advancements in engineering techniques relevant to propulsion systems.
To be successful in this role we expect you to have:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Solid experience: 5-10 years of experience in structural analysis using FEM tools (linear and non-linear static and dynamic analysis, vibration, fatigue, etc.).
- Problem-solving mindset: innovative and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
- Communication skills: proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- International experience: ability to work effectively in an international organisation.
- Positive attitude: proactive, eager to learn, and adaptable.
- Teamwork skills: flexibility and strong collaboration abilities.
- Materials knowledge: expertise and experience with various materials.
- You have an advantage if you have knowledge of the Maritime industry.
- Experience with 3D modelling, preferably in Siemens NX, is a plus.

We have a skilled team embedded in a professional internal and external maritime community. You will be working in close cooperation with other teams within our Business Unit Propulsion. Such as Hydrodynamics, Technical Services, Supply Management, Innovation and Project Management.
