Supply Development Engineer

Are you a supply chain, production or manufacturing professional who gets excited about the continues development of supplier performance for a wide range high class technical propulsion equipment? Do you like to be part of global sourcing team in which you are responsible for the development of your own group of suppliers? Then you might be the Supplier Development Engineer that we are looking for!

 

As a Supplier Development Engineer you monitor and analyse supplier performance with the main goal to identify room for improvement and set-up and execute development plans together with our suppliers. You take ownership for your own supplier base and actively steer on quality, delivery and cost activities utilizing defined supplier development tools.

 

Together with your team of other professional and strategic purchasers, you actively participate in the Category action plan creation, including decision making of supplier rationalisation.

 

In this position you will be part of our Global Sourcing Propulsion organization consisting of 14 other purchasing professionals. Together you are responsible for the coordination of all global- and local sourcing activities within the Propulsion organization, located in Wuxi (China), Trieste (Italy) and Drunen (The Netherlands). You will be reporting to the General Manager Supply Management Propulsion.

 

This position is open for our office in Drunen. International Traveling is part of the job.

 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • You execute supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier audit plan.
  • Develop and execute supplier development action plan for supplier improvements.
  • Support suppliers with their operational efficiency, organizational growth & product improvement and development initiatives.
  • Assess and follow up the suppliers’ quality management systems and Supplier Management System (VMS) rating.
  • You are the central point of contact for suppliers with an escalated quality, delivery or technical problem.
  • You participate in the development of Wärtsilä’s tools and procedures for Supplier Development and in other assigned development projects.

 

What do we expect from you?

  • Process development and project management knowledge coupled with a strong focus on quality, speed and cost.
  • You hold a bachelor or master’s degree within a technical domain combined with some years of relevant working experience within Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations or Quality Engineering.
  • Experience or affinity with manufacturing processes and product testing.
  • Solution oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities.
  • Good communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver the messages to different audiences and target groups.
  • Fluent command in English, both oral and written.
  • Solid understanding of sourcing and supply management.
  • Experience and understanding of Operational Excellence principles and awareness about working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding (Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, etc.)
