Technical Illustrator

‘English speaking design visualisation expert with experience in a technical working environment’

 

For our Technical Information organization we are looking for a Technical Illustrator to create technical isometric illustrations for the maintenance and installation of our propulsion products such as Steerable Thrusters, Controllable Pitch Propellers, Waterjets, Tunnel Thrusters etc.

 

Your main responsibility is to ensure a high standard of technical illustrations to simplify the technical information related to our propulsion products. Together with our technical writers and Data Engineers you create the total Product Life-Cycle information for the propulsion installations we service for our customers. You collect technical information from a variety of sources like our expert engineers locally and overseas, Product Data Management (PDM) and ERP system.

 

You will be part of the Wärtsilä Technical Information team in Drunen as part of the Wärtsilä global Technical Information Organization, which is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and illustrated Parts lifecycle data and overhaul and maintenance kits for Wärtsilä products. You will be reporting to our Manager Technical Information. Location Drunen, Netherlands.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

  • You analyse technical information and create understandable illustrations for Operations & Maintenance Manuals, Sales Bills of Materials and Service Bulletins.
  • You create isometric technical illustrations in Creo Illustrator, Adobe Illustrator, using NX engineering data.
  • Ensure high quality isometric illustrations that communicate technical information to our customers.
  • Communicate with Expert Engineers all over the world to collect technical information and arising issues regarding your technical illustrations.
  • Maintain visualisations for manual templates in the current portfolio and create new illustrations for new product portfolio.

                                                            

What do we expect from you?

  • You have a vocational Technical education combined with 2-5 years’ experience as a Technical Illustrator.
  • Excellent command of the English language. Dutch is preferred.
  • Broad technical knowledge and interest in mechanics and hydraulics is essential.
  • You are familiar with Creo illustrator, Adobe Illustrator, or comparable tools.
  • Knowledge of PDM and ERP systems, TeamCenter (NX), and SAP is an advantage.
  • You are a strong communicator with customer focused with a service minded attitude.
  • You’re a team player with a proactive approach and good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • You are diligent and work very meticulous.
