Electrical Supervisor / Commissioning Engineer - OPEN APPLICATION

Energy Business - Construction and Commissioning Services is now looking for a Supervisor/Commissioning Engineer, Electrical.

Your main responsibility is to plan and supervise electrical installation and commissioning activities at project site. This position will therefore see you travelling abroad, around the world, approx. 250 days a year. This position offers you an opportunity to use and enlarge your expertise in an international and dynamic environment, working on new build power plant Installation and commissioning works. Projects, production locations, Wärtsilä offices, customers and suppliers can be found all over the world. We offer you an interesting position and a possibility to work with a successful global team in an international company. Home office location is Esposende, Portugal. Note that living in any of the home office locations is not compulsory.

 

Responsibilities During Installation:

  • Guide electrical subcontractor(s) at site.
  • Ensure that planned works are executed according to the Last Planner System.
  • Maintain good reporting practices.
  • Ensure that electrical as-built drawings are completed and communicated.
  • Safeguard the compliance with HSSE policies and minimize risks in electrical installations and test.   
  • Coordinate construction and installation works in cooperation with Civil and Mechanical disciplines.
  • Perform inspection of received material and goods at site.
  • Participate the electrical weekly site meetings.  
  • Perform the quality control and installation inspections at site.
  • Guide the subcontractor(s) with electrical design and installation instructions.
  • Assist the subcontractor(s) in planning, organizing and execution of electrical works.
  • Advise and support the client in planning, organizing and execution of tests.  
  • Ensure that safe inspections and test procedures are followed.
  • Instruct subcontractor to use accepted test and inspection methods and proper test equipment. 
  • Perform testing of installed equipment and document test results.
  • Maintain punch list.
  • Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the customer for taking over of the plant.

 

Responsibilities During Commissioning:

  • Perform start-up and tests of equipment within the scope of the contract.
  • Follow commissioning plan.
  • Follow commissioning and performance tests procedures.
  • Ensure that all test results are documented according to Wärtsilä instructions.  
  • Safeguard the compliance with EHS policies and minimize risks during commissioning. 
  • Ensure that safe commissioning practices are followed.
  • Resolve and record technical problems during the commissioning. 
  • Participate the site commissioning meetings.  
  • Ensure that safe and calibrated test equipment are used.
  • Maintain good reporting practices.
  • Guide operation personnel with plant design and functionalities.
  • Assist the client with commissioning procedures and testing.
  • Ensure safe and reliable function of the plant and equipment.
  • Ensure that as-built drawings are completed and communicated.
  • Maintain punch list.
  • Ensure that all required documents are submitted and signed by the client for taking over of the plant.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc in Electrical Engineering 
  • Familiar with relevant codes and standards
  • Understanding of utility generation construction, and commissioning practices. Working experience in similar tasks preferred 
  • Good communication and team building skills 
  • Willingness to learn and adapt new technologies 
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Ability to adjust to a wide range of conditions and cultural environments 
  • Good command of English, both oral and written 
  • Other languages are seen as an advantage 

 

Please note that relocation costs and/or immigration support in moving to Portugal is not available for this position.
