Service Engineer - Mechanical 4-Stroke (m/f)

We are looking for a hands-on and dynamic Mechanical Service Engineer to join our team in the Mediterranean region.
 

The preferred location for the position is in Esposende, Portugal but also considering from North & Central of Portugal.

 

The successful applicants must be authorized to work in Portugal without sponsorship.

 

Your role and responsibilities 

 

As a Service Engineer - Mechanical 4-Stroke, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Perform maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on 4-stroke engines and mechanical systems
  • Diagnose faults and identify root causes in complex mechanical equipment
  • Support customers on-site in Portugal and internationally
  • Execute commissioning, testing, and system adjustments
  • Prepare detailed service and technical reports
  • Ensure work is carried out in line with Wärtsilä safety and quality standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and maintain strong customer communication

 

What you bring

 

  • Technical background in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with 4-stroke engines and mechanical systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and field service experience
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic environments
  • Good communication skills in English

 

Nice to have

 

  • Experience in marine or power plant environments
  • Knowledge of diesel and gas engines
  • Experience with commissioning and installations
