We are looking for a dynamic high performer to join our fast-paced Team. A focused Service Engineer, Mechanic professionals will complete our pool of resources in the Mediterranean region.

The preferred location for the position is in Esposende, but also considering from North & Central of Portugal.

The successful applicants must be authorized to work in Portugal without sponsorship.

 

What will you be doing

In this position, your work will include maintenance, repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical system related to our products or representatives brands. On a typical day, you might be attend our external and internal customers, in Portugal or other countries through the Wartsila Network, in order to solve issues or provide properly solutions. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a level of independency, as you will have the support of the different areas according the demand of the services.

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have understanding in machines and mechanical engineering. This position needs to have  proactive attitude, well manners and presence, with autonomous own proceeds following the Wartsila guidelines and way of working. As an ideal candidate, you needs to have the willingness to learn, assimilate and provide your best contribution to yours peers, team member and final customers, be it technically or behaviourally. Experience from Marine and Power Plant engines installations and knowledge of diesel and gas engines are a plus.

 

For you to succeed in the position, we hope you to have solid technical background.

  • High School / Diploma or equivalent in mechanical and/or engineering related.
  • Experience with mechanics, engines, machines, etc.
  • Experience with marine equipment, etc.

As Service Engineer in Mechanics, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Carry out complex field service activities related to Wartsila's products, overhauls and repairs according work plan, or their commissioning, trial tests, adjustments, repair and maintenance.
  • Perform troubleshooting on site to isolate and find root causes of failures in equipment’s.
  • Keep track of work details and provide deepen reports, including all the necessary details (measurements, photos, way of working, investigations, etc.).
  • Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work. Keep track and provide the accounting of time, together with the spare parts to be used.
  • Lead and manage assigned self/team while on site, interacting with the customer to arrange for proper schedule to achieve desired scope. Be able to assure prompt feedback to work Coordination and Resources departments.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsila Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain mechanic equipment and apparatuses using hand and power tools.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure that repairs have been finalized correctly and that machinery and equipment are compliant to specifications and safety standards.
  • Proactively advice and promote available products and solutions to customers.
  • Instructs and directs if any maintenance trainees assigned.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to perform/completion of any other task/duties as assigned.
  • Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work.
  • Keep track and provide the accounting of time, together with the spare parts to be used.
  • Prepare technical and travel reports on time, with the collections of the expected documentation according to Wartsila quality.
  • To maintain a professional appearance and conduct
  • Ready to travel on short notice.

  • Mechanics and technical experience; 4 stroke engines, auxiliary equipment, etc. Ability to perform a troubleshooting on it.
  • Computer skills, MS Office suite.

  • Business and Customer Focus.

In this role, travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you have willingness and flexibility to travel for jobs anytime, approximately 80% of your working time.
