4-Stroke Mechanical Service Engineer

The position of 4 Stroke Mechanical Service Engineer is within Wärtsilä Engine Services, working on marine and land based diesel and gas engines.

 

This is a permanent, full time, home based role with UK and international travel requirements.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a 4 Stroke Mechanical Service Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Independently execute Field Service activities such as overhauls, repairs and basic troubleshooting on 4 stroke engines
  • Awareness of the local work instructions for overhauling components and ensure they are understood and adhered to
  • Ensuring all activities on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company’s health and safety obligations
  • Liaising closely with the on-site Team Leader/Service Coordinator to provide the progress status of the assigned work and ensure service deadlines are met
  • Liaising with customers on-site, handling enquiries and technical queries
  • Actively advising and promoting products and solutions to customers
  • Ensuring all timesheets and expense sheets are signed by the customer and submitted weekly
  • Submitting accurate and high quality service work reports within agreed time limits
  • Assisting colleagues with ad-hoc duties and undertaking additional tasks as required
  • Carrying out all tasks in a way to ensure customer satisfaction at all times
  • Attending any mandatory QEHS training and product training
  • Working on offshore installations when required. 

 

In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the successful candidate must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • A proven background within an engineering or service environment
  • Formal qualification within engineering such as BEng/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of the Marine Industry is desired
  • Pro-active attitude and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach
  • Practical problem-solving skills
  • IT literacy with knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Fluency in the English language, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn, develop and gain broad knowledge of Wärtsilä products.
