We are now looking for a  

 

Accounts Payable Accountant

 

to join our dedicated finance team of five, striving to be the best we can, working for a better future. The position is permanent and the location is in Fareham - UK, with some flexibility on home working as a hybrid solution after probation. 

 

What you will be doing  

 

In this position, your work will include processing invoices, managing payment runs and inventory reporting. You will not be working on this alone, even though the work requires a high level of independency, as you will have the support from the rest of the finance team. For us to be the best match, we expect you to have understanding in accounts payable and experience from working with vendors. For you to succeed in the position, we hope you to have a forward-thinking attitude, looking for improvements where possible and a curiosity to challenge the status quo.

 

As Accounts Payable Accountant, your work will focus on these responsibilities:  

 

  • To manage accounts payable queries and invoice clearing. Ensure matching and correct posting of PL invoices (Ext and IG)
  • To create and maintain supplier accounts with appropriate approvals
  • To create BACS run facilitating payments to vendors and raise manual bank payments where required, ensuring approval in a timely manner
  • To provide weekly cash flow report, forecasting to group as required and ensuring liquidity of the Business
  • To maintain the GR-IR account, working closely with Purchasing to minimise GR-IR differences
  • To actively chase invoice clearing for month end closing advising work-flow users of clearing actions as appropriate
  • To raise and post appropriate accrual and pre-payment journals in line with accounting procedures
  • Inventory reporting and settlements including provisions required for reporting purposes
  • To complete relevant balances sheet recs and internal controls as required
  • To identify any potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures
  • To maintain financial controls within the business
  • To prioritise workload to ensure that the competing demands of the organization are met
  • To instil, promote and maintain working relationships with all levels of management and employees
  • To assist with and complete ad hoc tasks as requested and assist with financial audits
  • To provide cover for reception and AR where necessary
