Field Service Manager

Field Services Manager 

In this position you will become part of the organisation Wärtsilä Shaft Line Solutions (SLS). A growing organisation within Wartsila Marine Solutions, critical to strategy, SLS includes ca. 125 dedicated professionals located all around the world.

As Field Services Manager you will be responsible for the operations and delivery of Field Service (FS) for SLS, managing a team of around 20 FS Coordinators & FS Engineers located in UK, Italy, Spain & Netherlands.

It will require the ability to lead and develop an international team according to strategy. In this position you will be reporting to FS Area Manager EUAF and you will be ideally be located in the UK, Fareham, but other countries can be considered as well (Italy, Spain or Netherlands). This a permanent role.


What you will be doing:

  • Plan, define and direct the action plan for the team.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the team and team members.
  • Ensure that targets are met for the team and team members.
  • Define competences and develop the team according to demand and strategy. 
  • Lead, coach and support personnel within the team.
  • Identify and implement the delivery of new services.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the implementation of processes and tools within the team.
  • Support FS Coordinators in their tasks as and when required. 
  • Ensure standards and process according to strategy and QSHE guidelines.
  • Ensure that the team continuously seek for solutions in according to best practises.


You will shine in this role if you have:

  • A safety first mind-set.
  • Knowledge and experience of the FS processes, administrative procedures or service requirements associated with the efficient functioning of a FS business.

  • You are passionate about developing SLS E2E-business to the next level. 
  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications as a combination of education and experience.
  • A working knowledge of commercial administration processes.
  • Experience working within Service Delivery and the Marine Industry. 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience working in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SLS products and service requirements beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills and a well-developed cultural awareness and situational sensitivity.
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Fluent in English with relevant additional language skills beneficial.
  • You are in UK and are willing and able to travel.


In this role, your success will be measured by

  • Order-intake, net sales and EBIT for SLS.
  • KPIs set by FS Area Manager EUAF and GM Operations SLRS.
