Propulsion Operations Service Manager

We are now looking for an energetic and proactive Operations Service Manager Propulsion to join the Field Services and Workshops Central Europe Team. The preferred location for the position is in the south of the UK

 

What will you be doing

The ideal person for this role would have solid propulsion product knowledge, a customer centric mind-set and is able to generate and close sales opportunities for Propulsion service. You will be responsible for providing solid technical and commercial support opportunities towards our customer, who should perceive you as a product expert. You will also be responsible for promoting Propulsion products and services for selected geographical areas. Including Thrusters, Propellers, Gearboxes, Waterjets and Propulsion Control Systems, but also other Propulsion products. You will work in close cooperation with the Business Unit Propulsion in Glasgow

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities and contract orders for Wartsila Propulsion products for selected segments and geographical area
  • Determine and tailor the content and scope of solutions, based on discussions with our customers
  • Formulation of technical and commercial documentation for solution proposals based on customer requirements
  • Create and entertain strong relationship with shipyards and ship owners
  • Ensure Wartsila is on the makers list of the shipyards and ship owners for Propulsion products
  • Promote Propulsion products by giving technical presentations to our customers
  • Create, improve and tailor our Propulsion value propositions including the lifecycle support benefits when needed
  • Regular exchange of information and alignment of the sales projects with Sales
  • Participate in capture teams for the larger package projects
  • Support operational team during execution of the sold services.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Commercial and technical understanding of the Propulsion products and solutions
  • Knowledge of the marine market
  • Ability to engage in dialogue with different levels of the customer’s organization
  • You are independent and pro-active, you are used to take own initiatives
  • You are result oriented and have a strong entrepreneurial drive
  • You are an excellent communicator who can translate (complex) technical information into clear business language and outcomes for stakeholders and communicate it to different audiences
  • Willingness to travel frequently
