Propulsion Sales Manager

 

Marine Power leads the industry in its journey towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. As a Sales Manager within the Marine Power Sales organisation your role will be to identify and pursue relevant sales opportunities and for closing deals.

In your day to day work you will maintain and develop our market leading position in Marine Power sales for our Propulsion Systems within the region. In addition to this, the role is to provide support with New Regional Initiatives and Support Complex Tenders.

 

You will be part of a highly professional Sales team that is being supported by a global organisation developing market leading technology and solutions.

 

In this position you will be reporting to General Manager of the Region to Cover Central Europe & Nordic areas

 

 

Main responsibilities:
 

Propulsion

  • Work with the Regional Sales Team, generate opportunities and contract orders for Wartsila Propulsion products.
  • Actively and proactively work with the regional sales teams to pursue stand-alone Propulsion new-build sales opportunities, which arise in cases when propulsion products are not bundled with other Wärtsilä equipment on a vessel.
  • Create, improve, and tailor our Propulsion value propositions.
  • Regular exchange of information and alignment of the sales projects with the local Sales Team.

 

New Regional Initiatives

  • Roll out new Initiatives within the region and maintain close cooperation with the Business Units within Marine Power, understanding development programs on the horizon and regularly report into the Region Team.
  • Take the lead or participate in a team when the roll out of a new or existing initiative, offering or similar is launched by a Marine Power business unit or MP Marketing.
  • Liaise with Regional Sales Team to investigate and study market potentials in support of creating an understanding of the marine landscape with the region to maximise success in the initiative.
  • Align all activities with the Marine Power Strategy, update and report results back to the relevant stakeholders

 

Support Complex Tenders

  • Provide coordination support directly to the Regions Sales Managers where there are complex tenders or applications are to be submitted.
  • Where necessary, liaise with local country entities in Legal, HR, Finance Control and QHSE to gain information required for such tenders, where the submission requires additional company information in addition and above the general proposal requirements of commercial and technical requirements of the service or product being proposed.
  • Form a regional understanding of the opportunity pipeline where tenders/applications to be submitted and the Sales Manager requires such support beyond where the Business Unit has the capability to provide.

  • Experienced Sales Manager with a proven track record in delivering business results.
  • Commercial: Eager to grow the business, close the deals – still securing required profit margins.
  • Negotiation skills, proficient at negotiations, both technically and commercially and able to close deals
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Presentation skills, ability to adapt the messaging to the audience.
  • Strong team/team building capacity.
  • Tolerance to work under stress in a complex business environment.
  • Working knowledge of marine and propulsion systems would be an advantage in Thrusters, Propellers, Water Jets.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willingness to travel (mainly within the area).
  • Education: A University/Bachelor (preferable in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering) or equal experience
