Senior Sales Support Engineer

Within the UK, Wärtsilä Services network provides full lifecycle support for its customers across the marine and energy markets to enhance their business capabilities. With service solutions ranging from spare parts to maximised lifetime, increase efficiency and performance through the provision and maintenance of our product portfolio. 

We are currently looking for a Senior Sales Support Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will be based out of our office in Fareham, United Kingdom. 

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities? 

 

  • To assist the Sales Support Manager to increase sales and provide full office back up and assistance for Account Managers.
  • To actively visit customers to increase the amount of business won in the areas where we have traditionally been unsuccessful through producing more competitive offers (as appropriate).
  • To manage and produce tender responses and offers for Account Managers in conjunction with all categories using the Product Portfolio teams, Support Engineers and Spares Coordinators in a timely manner, evaluating technical, financial and environmental risks accordingly.
  • To actively visit customers identified as requiring additional support to ensure that our tenders and offer responses are tailored offerings that fulfil the customer needs and that of the relevant market conditions. 
  • Assist in providing technical advice for service & parts requests for customers and internally.
  • To produce Field Service and Workshop quotations for the UK Services team.
  • To develop standard services together with the field service & workshop teams and to calculate together fixed prices for fixed services.
  • Chasing customers up on outstanding offers.
  • Assist Spare Part Sales in parts identification for quicker resolution of queries.
  • Provide full office back up to Account Managers as requested.
  • Update and actively support CRM.
  • To ensure that effective and sufficient communication is maintained between the Company and the customer.
  • Compliance at all times with appropriate QA and Health & Safety procedures.

  • A proactive individual who is not afraid to get stuck in.
  • Good time management and organisation skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload. 
  • Able work effectively and efficiently independantly and as part of a team. 
  • The ideal candidate would have a background in engineering and an understanding of ship systems and oil/gas business environments. 
  • As there is a need to produce quotations for engine overhauls, a knowledge of diesel engines is required.
