The Wartsila PBL team is responsible for a comprehensive, 12-year performance-based agreement that has been signed between Wärtsilä and Carnival Corporation. The agreement includes Wartsila’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning (DMP) and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). Simplified, Wärtsilä will take care of engine maintenance and monitoring, scheduled or not. In addition, Wärtsilä will also be responsible for safely extending overhaul intervals where possible, as they will be closely monitoring the ship’s engines.

This position reports to the Field Service Coordinator Team Lead.

Candidates are expected to display a high level of critical thinking and reasoning skills, identify as high performers, as well as being self-motivating.

We have positions available in the USA and in Panama. Remote work is available for qualified candidates.

What will you be doing

In this position, you will perform Field Service activities such as overhauls, maintenance, and troubleshooting on our Wartsila 4-stroke marine diesel engines, such as Wartsila 32, Vaasa 32, Wartsila 38, Wartsila 46F, Wartsila 46, Wartsila 46Common Rail, and Sulzer ZA40S.

For us to be the best match, we expect you to have technical experience in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul.

As a Field Service Superintendent, 4-Stroke, you will focus on these responsibilities:

• Perform Field Service activities according to the work plan on modern marine diesel and dual-fuel engines.
• Perform overhauls and repairs on 4-stroke medium speed engines.
• Interact professionally with customers during the work execution.
• Perform internal and external progress status of the assigned work.
• Create the Service Work Reports.
• Provide technical guidance to both Service Engineers and Customers on how to properly use products or systems under their care and respond appropriately to customer inquiries or complaints by providing clear explanations, reassurance, or resolution options as needed.
• Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and site procedures.
• Follow-up and report on the status of work orders to customers and/or internal stakeholders.
• Continuously seek solutions according to best practices.

• Relevant technical education or qualifications as a combination of education and experience.
• Technical experience in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul with practical problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in installation operation, maintenance, and repair.
• Highly effective technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Interact professionally and deliver solutions to customers during the work execution.
• 5+ years’ experience on medium speed 4-stroke engines.
• Experience in working with electrical and control systems beneficial.
• Interested in traveling 75% of the time.
• Fluent in English with relevant additional language skills beneficial.

The salary range for US candidates is US$85,000-110,000. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Eligibility to participate in: the discretionary incentive plan assigned to the level of position upon offer of employment; medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms; Company-paid benefits such as life insurance, short- and long-term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods. Paid time off (PTO) is accrued on a per-pay period basis in accordance with tenure in the Company; a new hire can expect 17 days per year. Twelve (12) Company-paid holidays.
