Automation Engineer

R&D and Engineering / Testing & Validation is looking for an Automation Engineer supporting the automation related work on test engines and component test benches. Our department test and validate components, technologies and systems to secure the most value adding solutions for our customers. Within the team we focus on instrumentation, control and measurements for the different testing activities. The position is permanent and will be located in Vaasa. 

 

Responsibilities 
- To support and maintain the automation system development (hardware/software) in Vaskiluoto Engine Laboratory, both for laboratory infrastructure as well as for test engines, test rigs and single cylinder engines
- To coordinate and plan automation work related to engine changes, rebuilds and in new projects at the same time balancing the workload in the team
- To carry out programming of PLC, Labtool and WOIS systems and laboratory specific measurement systems. 
- Programming and configuration of automated running sequences 
- To compile and analyse automation related data, making reports and presentations
- To participate in technical meetings according to need

 

Requirements    
- Relevant technical education (BSc or MSc or equivalent in Automation or Electrical engineering)
- Relevant technical background. Knowledge about Wärtsilä engine product family, systems and solutions is seen as a benefit
- Strong internal motivation, passion for execution and getting things completed
- Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills 
- Good communication and team working skills, as well as working independently
- Structured way of working and planning
- Willingness to learn and adapt
