Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure plant compliance with legal obligations related to Health and Safety regulations by implementing H&S policy, organisation and procedures.
- Support the Plant H&S Committee, Customer Safety Manager etc in taking ownership of Health & Safety Mgmt. Plan and appointing staff for carrying out Health & Safety functions.
- Authorise work permits after ensuring clearance for hazardous work, electrical isolations etc.
- Receive and investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences and fire damage, determine causes for occurrences and recommend preventive actions.
- Maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences.
- Identify training needs and conduct H&S related trainings at plant.
- Ensure that fire arrangements are properly maintained and that fire drills are carried out at plant.
- Prepare and coordinate internal H&S audits at plant.
- Provides, when needed, support and detailed information regarding own professional area
- Ensure visitor safety and compliance with rules.
- Promote and ensure safety to all employees, contractors and visitors.
- Promote and ensure no non-conformances in our environmental procedures
- Supervise and monitor maintenance of vehicles
- Develop a system of monitoring Lost Time Accident
- Develop a system of monitoring safety and environmental aspects of the plant through developing and communication procedures to the staff.
- Develop an efficient security system in the plant capable of handling all eventualities.
- Develop a system of vehicle maintenance.
- Manage schedule and co-ordinate plant transportation system (buses) and services.
- Ensures implementation and makes adaptation to all environment, health and safety policies and procedures relevant to the plant.
- Advices the plant manager on relevant continuous improvement plans on environment, health and safety, necessary for the plant.
- Advices the plant managers on necessary procedures to be implemented to improve safety and safe operation and maintenance of plant.
- Recommend training and skills development on environment health and safety to the plant manager.
Requirements:
· 2-3 Years experience as Environment,Health and Safety Officer, preferably in a plant environment
· University degree in Bachelor of Science or equivalent
· A resident in Madagascar (Preferable).
· Willing to relocate to Fort Dauphin
· English and French language
