What will you be doing?
As a Field Service Engineer, Electrical & Automation USA, you will play a key role in meeting the growing demand for E&A service requests. You will be responsible for carrying out repairs, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on various Wärtsilä control systems. Additionally, you will prepare detailed service reports and maintain technical communication with Wärtsilä field service stakeholders and customers.
This position reports to the Team Leader Resources E&A.
Wärtsilä, a SMART technology company, is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our fast-paced, high-performance Field Service Operations team. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance on Wärtsilä control systems, including Engine Control Systems, Power Management Systems (PMS), Connectivity devices (HMI, Firewalls, and Servers), and general Vessel Automation.
- Prepare detailed and accurate service reports to document work performed and provide recommendations for future maintenance or improvements.
- Conduct technical communications with Wärtsilä field service stakeholders and customers to ensure clear understanding of work progress and outcomes.
- Ensure that all work is executed in compliance with Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QEHS) guidelines and customer-site procedures.
- Support commissioning activities for Wärtsilä systems as required.
- Proactively advise and promote Wärtsilä products and solutions to customers.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support for Wärtsilä equipment, such as LNGPac, Dual Fuel technology, IAS-related systems, UNIC, and other automation systems.

- Preferred MSc or BSc in Electrical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or Marine Engineering.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and a systematic way of working.
- A genuine passion for engines, automation, and control systems.
- Good analytical and organizational skills.
- Understanding of the importance of quality and attention to detail.
- Good ability to cooperate and communicate with others.
- Good command of English, both oral and written.
- Experience with various PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, etc.) and SCADA-based systems.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires a 70% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international locations, including onshore and offshore sites. The role demands adaptability to varying travel requirements, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfill these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.
