In-Situ Machinist

As a Machinist, In-Situ your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Working, measuring and produce/machine parts within the Metric and or Standard system;
  • Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical and or machining equipment;
  • Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units;
  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product;
  • Able to draw or make a relevant sketch of work and or job dimensions for reporting
  • Manufacturing of special applications in the lathe machine, such as threads and fittings;
  • Evaluation of components per given manufacturer specifications and or Metric standards;
  • Maintaining of all Machine workshop and OSM Machinery;
  • Completion of measurement sheets and or reports per Metric standards;
  • Preparation of personal hand tools, consumables and materials prior to job;
  • Preparation of jobs including field/shop service execution;
  • Execute machining works onboard vessels and or stationary Power systems all around the world;
  • Maintain workspace clean and organized;
  • Assist in Wärtsilä and Quantiserv management in workflow and improvement of same;
  • Assist OSM Specialist with his assignment and follow his instructions
  • Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude towards any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required
  • Always carry out all tasks in such a way as to ensure maximum (internal and external) satisfaction to the extent that this is within the employee's control
  • Undergo appropriate training to gain competencies with heavy lifting equipment; Forklift, overhead gantry cranes, component turning equipment

 

In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.

 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have:

 

  • Experience in a similar role within the marine industry would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Line-boring using boring bars
  • Use of laser and optical alignment equipment
  • Use of mechanical measuring equipment
  • Tool calibration and verification
  • Metal stitching experience
  • Motivation to travel both domestically and internationally for 7-8 months per year.
  • Knowledge with use of milling machines, drilling, manual lathe operation, line boring tools and laser/optical alignment equipment
  • Looking for detail oriented, easy going, not surprised by schedule changes machinist with minimum 2 years of experience in machining field
