We are now looking for an Instructor – Technical Training (Energy & Marine) in Fort Lauderdale, US to join our team working for a better future.
What will you be doing?
As an Instructor, you will actively participate in the delivery, coordination, and execution of technical training activities for both internal personnel and external customers. The role is hands‑on and operational, combining classroom instruction, practical training, and on‑site or onboard delivery, ensuring high‑quality learning experiences aligned with Wärtsilä standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
You will be responsible for delivering training independently when required, supporting multiple training centers across the region, and contributing technical expertise in areas such as mechanical, electrical & automation, controls, and operations for energy and marine applications. The role requires strong communication and pedagogical skills, the ability to explain complex technical topics in an educative and supportive manner, and the flexibility to operate in a hybrid environment including training centers, customer sites, vessels, and virtual platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Actively deliver and coordinate day‑to‑day technical training activities for internal Field Service personnel and external customers.
- Execute standard training programs in training centers, customer sites, and onboard vessels, ensuring compliance with Wärtsilä safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Develop, administer, implement, and maintain technical training materials, training equipment, and assessment tools.
- Deliver training independently without backup when required, ensuring continuity of training operations.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers related to training content and operational topics.
- Explain technical concepts in a clear, engaging, and pedagogical way, supporting knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Ensure training delivery meets customer expectations and aligns with budgeted and margin targets.
- Participate in technical projects where field experience and operational knowledge are required.
- Support cross‑regional training activities, including collaboration with instructors in the Americas region.
- Perform additional tasks and assignments designated by the direct manager.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- A strong technical background in Field Service operations within the energy and/or marine industry.
- Hands‑on experience with power plants, engines, mechanical systems, and/or electrical & automation systems.
- The ability to confidently deliver training in front of groups, including face‑to‑face customer interactions.
- A proactive, convincing, and initiative‑driven mindset with strong communication skills.
- Comfort working in a hybrid role, combining classroom, on‑site, onboard, and virtual training environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively and support training activities across the region.
- High commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across functions and cultures.

Travel Requirements:
This position requires approximately 30–40% travel, including domestic travel within the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and occasional regional travel within the Americas. Training assignments may include extended periods away from the primary work location.
