We are looking for Superintendent Engineer, Electical & Automation (E&A) to join our team of highly-skilled professionals.  The preferred locations for this position are Fort Lauderdale FL USA, Vancouver BC Canada and Halifax NS Canada. 


What will you be doing

As a Superintendent Engineer, E&A, you will be responsible for performing field service activities according to the work plan specifically in relation to LNG/DF 4-Stroke driven installations with Wärtsilä equipment.


The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or Marine engineering and Wärtsilä IAS experience.


As a Superintendent Engineer, E&A, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Performing complex and advanced troubleshooting on specific equipment and equipment families in relation to Wärtsilä systems.
  • Act as superintendent engineer for complex marine installations and as a system commissioning engineer to lead-related commissioning activities as required.
  • Performing complex and advanced Tuning adjustments on Wartsila's advanced portfolio of DF engines and Propulsion Control systems.
  • Ensure that work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines and customer-site procedures.
  • Proactively advise and promote available products and solutions to customers.
  • Build and support internal and external stakeholders concerning specific LNG equipment like LNG Pac, Dual Fuel technology, IAS-related system, WECS, UNIC, LT7000, etc.
  • Commissioning of service products
  • On-site team lead and managing of the assigned team and related activities during the work execution
  • Proactively Interact with customers during the work execution
  • Interact with Field Service back office and Technical Services during work execution
  • Provide internal and external progress status up-dates of the assigned work
  • Create the Service Work Reports
  • Proactively consult, advise and promote available Wärtsilä solutions and products to customer


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or Marine engineering
  • Wärtsilä IAS experience of installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with various PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, etc) and SCADA-based systems.
  • The competence areas are alternatively for Electro/ Mechanical Systems (W32,34SG,34DF,20DF, 46, 50SG, 50DF), Electrical systems (MV, LV and DC systems) or various Automation Systems (WECS3000, WECS8000, UNIC)
  • Experience in WECSplorer, WCT, and UNITool software tools
  • Work experience with UNIC C3 and WECS gas engine installation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • A desire to drive continuous improvement in self and others
  • Analytical, problem solving, time management, project management and decision-making skills
  • Ability to respond positively to customers and other stakeholders in an effective manner
  • Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to create internal and external work reports
  • Literacy on Information Management Applications/ Tools such as MS Office
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 80% of the time 
  • Good time management and organizational skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload
  • Able work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
