About the Role:

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) will lead the management of key Smart Support accounts and oversee the deployment of Maritime Simulation systems projects. This role reports directly to the regional SIM Delivery and CS Team Leader and involves key relationships with Customers Account Managers, Project Sponsors, the project team, and other stakeholders.
 
The Technical Account Manager is accountable for managing the contract with key account Smart Support Customers and accomplishing the stated project objectives with appropriate quality. Key PM responsibilities include managing the triple constraints for projects: cost, time, and scope. The TAM is also responsible for the design (including scope and cost estimation), installation (including management of external resources), and initial support of allocated projects. In this position, the TAM will also perform tasks as a field engineer, and performing annual maintenance visits.

 

The ideal candidate will have previous marine industry experience, strong relationship building skills, and must be located within the Ft. Lauderdale, FL region for a hybrid work schedule.  

 
Main Responsibilities:

Account and Contract Management

  • Manage contracts for Smart Support key accounts, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key customers, maintaining strong relationships and addressing inquiries effectively.

 

Project Management

  • Work according to Wartsila's Commercial Project Management process, using appropriate tools.
  • Oversee end-to-end project delivery, including cost estimation, scheduling, and scope management.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Project Sponsors, and other stakeholders to achieve stated objectives.
  • System Design and Deployment.
  • Assist the Account Manager in preparing competent project offers, specifically focusing on technical solutions, scope of supply, necessary resources for project deployment, schedule, risks, and cost.
  • Manage the installation process, including coordinating external resources and contractors.
  • Technical Support and Maintenance.
  • Provide support for deployed systems, ensuring a smooth operation from customers.
  • Conduct annual maintenance visits and address technical issues in the field as needed.

 

Field Engineering

  • Perform hands-on technical tasks during installations and maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to maritime simulation systems.
  • Perform the annual maintenance visits to Customers.

 
Other Key Duties

  • Make suggestions to improve the technology and organization of production and QMS of the company and management unit’s system.
  • Conduct correspondence on behalf of the company within their competence.
  • Represent the company on matters within their competence.
  • Use internal and external regulations and other sources of information the profile of their work to examine and analyze.
  • Use corporate e-mail, phone, fax, email, and mobile communications for the proper performance of the above duties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relatable field of study.
  • Technical apprenticeship and/or relevant BS degree and/or applicable IT/Electronics certification.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management in a systems integration environment.
  • Maritime background an advantage.
  • Skills in CAD, Visio, XML an advantage.
  • Deep and broad experience with IT environments, including network, computers, Operating Systems, and related technologies.
  • Experience with PC/network installation and commissioning.
  • Experience with Troubleshooting/fault finding.
  • Interpersonal skills – verbal and written.
  • Proactive, self-starter able to jump in, ramp up and lead without a lot of oversight or direction.
  • Physical ability to cope with allocated work and traveling up to 50% of the time.
  • Fluency with English language (read, speak, write).
  • Successful applicant must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

 

Travel Requirements:
This position requires a 40% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfill these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.  Eligibility to participate in: the discretionary incentive plan assigned to the level of position upon offer of employment; medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms; Company-paid benefits such as life insurance, short- and long-term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods.  Paid time off (PTO) is accrued on a per-pay period basis in accordance with tenure in the Company; a new hire can expect 17 days per year.
