We are looking for a Workshop Engineer to join our dynamic, fast-paced Workshop for Marine Business. This position is located in Fort Lauderdale FL.

 

What will you be doing

 

As a Workshop Engineer, you will you will be responsible for safely and efficiently disassemble, thoroughly inspect, and precisely machine and rebuild a large variety of reciprocating engine components according to Wärtsilä’s established guidelines and safety protocols.

  

As a Workshop Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Will contribute to the execution of workshop service tasks, such as overhauls, reconditioning, modifications, cleaning and machining of reciprocating engine components.
  • Perform maintenance, redesign, upgrade, and machining work to our own equipment, as well as provide full support to ongoing customer projects that require machine shop services.
  • Fully support every ongoing field service job by providing excellence in both delivery accuracy and speed of service.
  • Gather technical information from TKB by accessing technical bulletins and operational / overhaul instruction from product manual.
  • Access parts catalogue to find out parts required that needs to be ordered to support overhauling or repair of the component / equipment.
  • Ensure that all activities in the workshop and on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company's Health and Safety standard ISO 4500112018.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to ISO 900112015 standard.
  • Be an integral part of the workshop team. Strive to achieve common goals and customer deadlines, whereby working overtime hours may be required.
  • Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude towards any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required.
  • Manage tool inventory, maintain/track in-situ machining and measuring tools. Tool coordination and equipment preparation, tracking.
  • Responsible for in-situ equipment maintenance and condition, by utilizing idle workforce and external contractors when needed.
  • Carry out proactive preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment.
  • Provide internal and external work reports according to Wärtsilä and QuantiServ standards.
  • Collect and organize time and expense reports.

 

 In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.

 

To be successful, you will have: 

 

  • 5 years experience of working with diesel engines
  • Experience in a similar role within the marine industry would be advantageous.
  • Good communication skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strong critical thinker
  • A proactive individual who is not afraid to get stuck in.
  • Good time management and organizational skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload.
  • Able work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
